Every listing carries a label showing where its halal information came from: "HMS certified" (with the date the certification runs through, where we have it), "business-reported" when the store told us, "directory-reported" when it comes from a public halal directory, or "customer-reported" when a shopper shared it. A halal market may still sell some products that aren't halal, so read labels on packaged goods. At the meat counter, you can ask whether the meat is zabiha, who supplies and certifies it, and whether the certificate is current.
